Behind the Scenes

Creating this film was a great opportunity to explore a bustling outdoor setting and play with light as the sun set over the Cape Fear River. As soon as I saw the choreography for this piece, I knew the film would need bright lights to silhouette the subject. My vision board included old movie theaters, carnival/Ferris wheel lights, or naturally lit downtown locations. After doing some scouting, I decided that Downtown Wilmington would provide the perfect backdrop for this piece. Organic movement from passers-by in the background naturally complimented the restricted “floor” space available for Jake to perform on. The goal with this film was to showcase the transition from day to night while maintaining a high energy performance.
