Behind the Scenes

With this piece, I wanted to really play into the idea that scenery tells a story. To match the song and the choreography, I was determined to create a film that took place after the sun had set (from blue hour to dark). Leading up to this shoot, I spent a lot of time researching lighting and how to maintain high quality footage even when natural lighting is at a minimum. On the day of the shoot we did takes before sunset, at dusk, and in full darkness with light provided by park street lamps and fairy lights around a pergola. While editing this film, my goal was to create a story based in the ideas of past and present. Where the viewer is brought into the story of the routine based on the lyrics of the song and choreography of the performance.
